
The “ISTROS” Society for Historical Studies, the Romanian representative of the American Institute for Southeast European Studies, invites you to take part in this year’s third edition of the “Nicolaus Olahus – Connecting History” series of lectures, dedicated for this occasion to the memory of Professor Emerita Doina Benea. Our partner and host for the online event on Thursday, 8 June 2023, 6:00 PM (EEST), is the “Constantin Daicoviciu” Center for Historical and Archaeological Studies from the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology of the West University in Timișoara.
Our guest speakers for the evening are in their order:
Professor Emerita Lynn Roller, the Department of Art and Art History of the University of California, Davis, with the lecture: Rock-Cut Sanctuaries in the Eastern Rhodope Mountains: the Gluhite Kamani Cult Complex;
Dr. Călin Ioan Timoc, curator and expert archaeologist, the National Museum of Banat and Accademia di Romania in Rome, with the lecture About the Roman Navigation Canal from Sipp (Danube Iron Gates Area);
Dr. Victor Bunoiu, researcher at the Timișoara Chapter of the Romanian Academy, with the lecture New Roman Bricks Stamped by Legio VII Claudia Pia Fidelis from Trajan’s Bridge at Drobeta.
