
The main purpose of the “ISTROS” Society for Historical Sciences is to encourage the study and research in the field of history, but mostly to promote History in society, namely to promote the study of this discipline and its importance in the modern world.
For meeting this general purpose, the NGO has the following objectives:
- The encouragement and promotion of scientific research in the field of History;
- The collaboration with similar national and international structures in this field of activity, in order for the association members’ work to be known nationwide and abroad;
- The support offered to the Culture Ministry and to the History faculties for the development of educational programmes and guides, establishing and coordinating contests and other kinds of scientific and professional manifestations;
- The promotion of international scientific research programmes and the participation in different study groups established by international federations in order to be part of the international scientific activity;
- The organisation of national, European and international scientific meetings on those specific structures demands;
- Accessing European and international funding for developing our programmes aimed to achieve our objectives;
- Organising courses and educational programmes targeted to national and international attendance;
- Promoting international scientific exchange in this field of activity;
- Organising rewarded contests for scientific work presented in national and international conferences in order to be published for a better national and international acknowledgment;
- Organising conferences and lectures sustained by national and international established researchers from the field of historic sciences in the main universities across the country in order to achieve a better dialogue and collaboration regarding the academic research but also to accomplish a higher spreading of the historic research results;
- Sponsoring young researchers but also deserving students in History faculties and colleges;
- Supporting own publishing activities (own journal, books, promotional brochures and leaflets) but also supporting major editorial projects of interest for this domain;
- Organising, promoting and utilising in educational purposes among the history students of national and international scientific meetings (workshops, round-tables, conferences, symposia and so on).
